Cate commenced practice as a Barrister in 2009. Prior to commencing at the bar, Cate was a solicitor in private practice in Brisbane from 2003.
Cate has a broad ranging industrial, employment and administrative law practice that extends to judicial review, disciplinary proceedings, unfair dismissal, industrial disputes, regulatory prosecutions, work health and safety, discrimination and coronial inquests.
Cate regularly advises and appears in matters in both the State and Federal jurisdictions. She has appeared, as junior counsel, in the High Court of Australia and also appeared in the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption.
Cate is a member of the Industrial Law Committee of the Bar Association of Queensland and presents at seminars and conferences.
Cate was listed as a leading employment and workplace relations barrister in Queensland in the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019 editions of the Doyle’s Guide.
