Scott Carter was called to the Queensland Bar in 2021, having been admitted as a solicitor in 2015. He holds a LLB and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in accounting) from the University of Queensland and was admitted to the Dean’s Honour Roll in 2012.
Scott previously practiced as Legal Officer and Crown Prosecutor for the Queensland Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He regularly appears in Federal Circuit and Family Court and in the Supreme and District Courts in Queensland and New South Wales. He also accepts briefs to appear in any court within Australia.
Since coming to the Bar, Scott has maintained a broad Family Law (acting for parties and Independent Children’s Lawyers), Public/Administrative Law and Criminal Law practice as well as accepting briefs in Commercial matters, Estate matters and Insolvency Law.

However, since joining the bar, he has also acted in a range of civil matters, including from personal injuries, professional misconduct, defamation and criminal asset confiscation.
Prior to being called, Lachlan practised for 4 years as a solicitor, acting in various commercial disputes, covering general contract, corporate and personal insolvency, partnership, corporations (including shareholder and derivative proceedings), professional negligence and civil forfeiture of criminal assets.
A latecomer to the law, prior to entering practice Lachlan enjoyed a varied career of more than ten years, with particular focus on commercial and data analysis, procurement and management.
Outside of practice, Lachlan is a hobbyist woodworker and grappling enthusiast, with ten years under his belt in competitive Brazilian jiu jitsu and freestyle wrestling.

He accepts briefs in all areas of civil, commercial and public law, including shipping, admiralty and transport matters.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Harrison was an Associate at an international shipping and commodities law firm in London and a Research Associate in the Federal Court of Australia, assisting the Hon. Justice Longbottom and the Hon. Justice Wheatley. Before that, he practised in commercial litigation at international and boutique firms in Brisbane and was the Associate to the Hon. Justice RM Derrington in the Federal Court of Australia.
He is also a Reporter for the Australian Law Reports and the Australian Corporations and Securities Reports published by LexisNexis.
Harrison Smith holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Queensland and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.
