Deacon has a diverse commercial practice, with a particular focus on competition and consumer law, industrial and employment law, tax law, and contract disputes.
An experienced advocate in both courtroom and tribunal settings, Deacon was called to the Bar in 2024 after his career as a solicitor with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. Prior to this, he served as associate to his Honour Justice Philip Morrison on the Queensland Court of Appeal.
Deacon’s approach to litigation is defined by tenacity, resilience, and discipline, qualities that are particularly evidenced by his sustained excellence during his career transition. Before entering the legal profession, Deacon spent 12 years as a garbage truck driver. During this time, he completed his law degree while regularly working 60 hours a week and maintaining top academic performance.
