Deacon was called to the bar in 2024. He had previously worked as a solicitor at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service, during which time he acted as an advocate in a variety of court settings. Prior to that, he was the Associate to his Honour Justice Philip Morrison on the Queensland Court of Appeal.
Maintaining a broad commercial practice, he is experienced in taxation law, competition and consumer law, industrial and employment law, and contract law disputes.
Deacon obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction from the University of Southern Queensland whilst juggling full time work. This evidences Deacon’s unquestionable commitment. His tenacious and determined approach to litigation ensures that he leaves no stone unturned in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Forged during his pre-law career, Deacon’s affable and approachable style make him a compelling and unique asset in any litigation setting–led or unled.
Deacon is on the sessional academic list at both the Queensland University of Technology, and the University of Southern Queensland.
